Government

Schulenburg has a governing body that consists of a mayor and five aldermen. The mayor and two aldermen are elected on odd-numbered years, and the other three aldermen are elected on even-numbered years. The terms of office of the mayor and the alderman lasts two years or until their successors in office have taken the oath of office.

The city council holds regular meetings twice a month on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. The places for meetings is the Council Chambers located at 607 Upton Ave., Schulenburg, Texas 78956. All meetings of the city council, regular and special, are open to the public.
